Offline Marketing
What is Advertising?
Advertising is simply a way of communicating a message to your customers and potential customers in order to persuade them to make a purchase from your business.
Advertising can be done through a number of offline mediums such as:
- Word of Mouth
- Newspaper Adverts
- Directories (e.g. Yellow Pages, Thomson)
- Television , Radio & PR (Public Relations)
- Vinyl Banners
- Printed Media (i.e. Leaflets, Flyers, Posters, Booklets)
How do I choose where to advertise?
This is where you need to put on your thinking cap (if you don’t have a ‘thinking cap”‘ you can ask us to put ours on for you). The most important thing about advertising is monitoring its success. If you don’t, you could end up spending a fortune on advertising that brings little or no result. Test, monitor and test again!
If this is the first time you have advertised, you should get quotes from two or more different providers (like a newspaper or magazine) so that you compare pricing and test the market to ensure you don’t get overcharged. Don’t be afraid to question a provider on their costs, if it is grossly overpriced or underpriced, ask them why and if they can better their offer. Each provider has a bottom line (lowest figure they can go to). You will find some providers are happy to negotiate their fees whilst others will not. Compare the prices but don’t just go for the cheapest regardless of your budget. This often a false economy.
The time you place adverts can have an impact on the price too as lots of printed publications are very cheap as their print deadline approaches. They call this deadline space.
Advertising in the National Press
We are able to offer you some great opportunities to averertise in a selected range of national papers & magazines in their Sunday Magazines and Supplements. Prices for an A7 advert start from around £250 + VAT and reach potentially millions of readers. Suddenly national advertising is affordable.
