Free Spam Filter
A bit of a hidden gem, MX Guarddog provides free SPAM filtering service in return for a single backlink to their site.
Some of the features included in MX Guarddog are:
- White-list – The ability to make an email address or domain or network trusted, so it doesn’t get caught as SPAM
- Attachment Filters – Filter out any unwanted files, such as .exe
- Blacklisting – The reverse of whitelisting, allow you to block certain email address, domains or network from sending you unwanted mail.
- Countries – Specify on ly the countries you are happy to receive mail from.
- Manage many email address in one account of MX Guarddog.
- Summary emails – Receive summary y emails letting you know what emails have been quarantined: 1, 2, 3 or 4 time daily, every 2 days, every 3 days.
- Option to tag unwanted email with SPAM but still deliver
- Option to Quarantine Spam (Store the suspected SPAM message in a list for you to review.
How to Use it
This page does not explain how to install MX Guarddog, but it does explain how to use it.
1. Login – visit http://www.mxguarddog.com and login using the details provided – The login details are an email address and password.
2. You will be taken to the domain dashboard. From here click on the ”Qurantined Email” link in the left to view emails that are suspected as SPAM.
3.You will notice the emails are in a table, showing the sender address and recipient address along with the subject and the date/time received. It is quite easy to scan down this list and notice if a genuine mail has been caught.
4. If you see an email that’s looks genuine, simply click on the email subject and a small window will popup with a few options:
- a) Preview Message – Click on this to see a quick preview of the message to help you decide whether it is SPAM or not
- b) Release message from quarantine – Choose this option and then press the blue ‘Release Message’ button to deliver the message to your inbox.
- c) Release message from quarantine, and white-list sender. – Choose this option then press the blue “Release Message” button to deliver the message to your inbox and white-list the sender so that following emails from the sender aren’t suspected as SPAM.

Whitelisting
To add an email to the whitelist first go to the “Whitelist” link on the left and then on the page that loads, click on the “Add Email” link.
A small window pops up , enter the email address you wish to whitelist into the field and then click on add. All emails sent from this address will now be deemed safe and won’t get cuaght in the quarantine.
Blacklisting
To add an email to the blacklist first go to the “Blacklist” link on the left and then on the page that loads, click on the “Add Email” link.
A small window pops up, enter the email address you wish to blacklist into the field and then click on add. All emails sent from this address will now be deemed SPAM and will always get caught in the quarantine.
